Ø      又是新的一年來臨了,祝大家2008年身體健康,萬事如意。

Ø      一年一度的校內學術比賽將於明年210日舉行。請到學校網站下載報名表及瀏覽比賽須知。學校的網址是http://www.paloaltochineseschool.org. 報名截止時間是118日。請在118日之前把填好的報名表交到400教室或交給老師

Ø      中文學校聯合會舉辦的Nissan徵文及演講比賽,本校參加的學生成果豐碩。文化1B班的劉碩芸榮獲國語演講A組第二名,M2A班的方培淵勇奪徵文C組第三名,M3A班的盧靖之喜獲徵文C組佳作,M3A班的賀奕修榮登國語演講C佳作。另外會話寫作B班的楊文俊也帶來A組粵語演講第三名的捷報。我們恭喜這五位同學的優異表現。

Ø      我們也恭喜M7B的陳懷哲同學參加台灣僑聯文教基金會舉辦的2007年書法比賽榮膺佳作獎。

Ø      金門羽球俱樂部 (Golden Gate Badminton Club) 提供給本校家庭10張優惠年度會員卡,原價 $715 的會費新加入的會員僅收 $360 金門的網址是: http://www.ggbadminton.com/ ,有興趣者請至400號教室查詢。

Ø      在一月中旬上學期結束之際,我們將有兩星期的時間開放招收插班轉學生。111日上課當天7:00 8:00各班將開放給轉學生試聽。轉學考試的日期是111日或 118日。註冊截止日是118日。詳情請洽註冊組。

Ø      本校黃憲之老師及王旗閔老師參加北京舉辦的第四屆「方正獎」中文字體及海報設計大賽,榮獲:      字體三等獎 新正楷                                                                       字體優秀獎 透視體                                                                       字體入圍獎 漆隸

Ø      教務組為M6-M8班級舉辦的「每週一詩」活動得到同學們的熱烈響應,請M6-M8的各位家長多鼓勵您的孩子堅持下去,一定會幫助他們的中文程度突飛猛進。    

Ø      本學年度上學期將於118日結束。下學期於125日開始。以下是下學期初始的重要事項:

1.       1/25/08 【中醫講座】由中醫師劉昊主講,介紹冬季養生之道。時間:7:10 8:50 PM. 410教室。

2.       2/8/08 大年初二,請留意要上課。

3.       2/10/08 :學術比賽,1 4 PM

*      Happy New Year to everyone and welcome back to school.

*      The annual academic contest will be held on Sunday, 2/10/08. Registration form is available for download on our school website. The website address is: http://www.paloaltochineseschool.org. Registration period is between 12/7/07 and 1/18/08. Please submit completed registration form to room 400 or to your class teacher.

*      The Associations of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS) co-sponsored a speech and writing contest with Nissan Motors. Our school is proud to announce the following winners. Congratulations!                        Kevin Fang (M2A) – 3rd Place, Group C Writing                                                                            Iris Lu (M3A) – Honorable Mention, Group C Writing                                                                               Ivan Yang (Conversion/Writing B) – 3rd Place, Group A Cantonese Speech                                      Joyce Liu (Culture 1B) – 2nd Place, Group A Mandarin Speech                                                                   Kevin Huo (M3A) – Honorable Mention, Group C Mandarin Speech

*      Congratulation also goes to Winston Chen (M7B), who received Honorable Mention from the 2007 Calligraphy Competition sponsored by the Federation of Overseas Chinese Association in Taiwan.

*      Golden Gate Badminton Club has offered 10 annual memberships at deep discounts to PACS families. The regular membership that usually costs $715 is offered at $360 for the first 10 PACS families who join the club as a new member. The website of GGBC is: http://www.ggbadminton.com/   Please check in the office (room 400) during class if you are interested.

*      Before the first semester ends in mid-January, we will have a two-week enrollment period for transfer students. Classes are open to prospective transfer students from 7 – 8 PM on 1/11/08. The transfer assessment test will be held on 1/11/08 and 1/18/08. The registration will close after 1/18/08. For details please check with the Registration group.

*      Our calligraphy teacher, Mr. Chenlie Huang, in collaboration with Ms. Chiming Wang, who teaches Conversation/Writing A class, are the proud winners of 3 prizes for the fonts they designed in the “Founder Award” contest on Print Typeface Design held in Beijing.

*      The “One Poem a Week” project rolled out by the Instruction Group for M6-M8 classes have been receiving very high level of participation by the students. We hope parents will continue to encourage your students to keep up with perseverance. Over time, it will be a tremendous boost to their Chinese language capabilities.

*      The first semester of this school year will end on 1/18/08. The second semester will begin on 1/25/08. Please note the following key dates:

1.       1/25/08:  Parent seminar – Topic: “How to Maintain Your Health and Wellbeing in the Winter, from the Perspective of Chinese Herbal Medicine”. Speaker: Mr. Liu. 7:10 – 8:50 PM. Room 410.

2.       2/8/08:  2nd day of Year of the Rat. School in session.

3.       2/10/08: Academic Contest. 1-4 PM.

4.       2/15/08, 2/22/08: No School.
